Keiser council meeting canceled after lack of quorum, mayor says

A scheduled Keiser City Council meeting on June 16, 2025, was canceled after only one council member showed up, Mayor Rick Creecy said. The lack of a quorum prevented the council from conducting any official business.
According to Creecy, only Lynn Skaggs attended of the four-member council. "Only one (Lynn Skaggs) of the four-member council was present," Creecy said. Recorder Penny Wilbanks confirmed the meeting was officially called off after a 15-minute delay. "We waited the required time, then called the meeting off," Wilbanks said.
Council members Donna Bell, Laura Smith and Joey Jackson were absent. Because the council lacked the number of members needed to legally convene and vote on agenda items, no motions or votes were taken. The next regular city council meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2025.
The cancellation means any agenda items planned for June 16 will be rescheduled or carried to the July 21 meeting unless city staff announce an earlier special session.
