Franklin County commissioners on June 2 authorized staff to donate, sell or dispose of four former communications consoles removed during a recent dispatch console conversion. Michelle (staff overseeing the equipment) asked the board to approve donating one desk that had been promised to a high‑school law‑enforcement program; commissioners approved that request and a broader authorization for the remaining consoles.
Michelle said the consoles were stored in an old sheriff’s office maintenance building and some parts may be in rough shape. Facilities staff member Brandon Gray said the desks are heavy “boat anchors” but generally in usable condition and that the so‑called oddball desk is the newer unit and expected to be repurposed.
The board approved a motion authorizing donation or sale of the consoles and disposal if no suitable recipient is found. Commissioners asked staff to post notices (municipal website, local classifieds/“Daily Bulldog”) and to coordinate with local schools and organizations for pickup and transfer.
