Applicant seeks to expand lakeside camp on Pavo Lane; board closes hearing with questions on septic and setbacks

He said he consulted town staff and state guidance because parts of the shore‑setback language appeared ambiguous, and that his design accounts for a 25-foot offset from the state 100‑foot rule and a 25‑foot grade setback.
The board asked detailed questions about septic capacity, well location and how to measure building height. Members noted the existing septic is designed for three bedrooms and requested that Mr. Stanho provide a redesigned septic plan showing added chambers and relocated tanks to meet setback requirements. The applicant said he has discussed options with a local septic contractor and can reposition and enlarge the system to support four bedrooms.
Board members also pressed for a clear measurement method for addition height and requested that any determination from the town’s code office or state guidance be included in the file. There were no public comments during the hearing; the board closed the public input period and said a written notice of decision with conditions will be issued within 10 days. If the board cannot reach a decision at this meeting, it will be placed on the first Monday meeting in June for final action.
The applicant said he will submit the revised septic plan and supporting documentation from staff and the state. The board indicated it prefers to decide the application the night of the public hearing if feasible; otherwise, the decision will be scheduled for the next meeting.
