Keiser council approves routine business, writes off $2,782.63 in bad debt and reschedules January meeting

Councilmembers approved the minutes from the November regular meeting and the November special meeting, and approved the city’s financial reports and a review of a City CD. Each approval was made by motion (mover: Councilmember Donna Bell; second: Councilmember Lynn Skaggs) and recorded in the minutes as approved by voice vote.
The council voted to write off a list of 46 former-account holders with outstanding balances totaling $2,782.63 as uncollectible. The write-off was moved by Bell, seconded by Skaggs, and recorded in the minutes as approved by voice vote. The minutes do not list individual roll-call votes or name which present members cast votes; they state only that “all said aye.”
The council also approved changing the January meeting date because Jan. 20, 2025, falls on a national holiday and the presidential inauguration. The meeting was rescheduled to Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 at 6:00 PM (motion: Bell; second: Skaggs; outcome: approved).
Mayor Rick Creecy, Recorder Penny Wilbanks and Councilmembers Lynn Skaggs and Donna Bell were present for the meeting; Councilmembers Joey Jackson and Laura Smith were absent. The meeting adjourned at 6:40 PM after a motion to adjourn by Skaggs with a second from Bell.
