At its April 13 meeting, the Limerick Board of Select Persons adopted a written FOA (Freedom of Access Act) process to centralize public-record requests through a designated public-access officer, establish acknowledgment and estimated-delivery timelines, and apply statutory charges after two hours of staff time.
A board member summarized the policy rationale: centralizing requests improves accountability and prevents requests from being lost in email chains. Another member noted that, under the proposed approach, printed pages and redactions may carry fees consistent with MMA legal guidance. The board moved, seconded, and voted to sign the FOA process policy at the meeting.
The board also signed a municipal release deed for a tax-acquired property that the original owner repurchased and agreed to table an auditing-firm proposal (received late) until the following week so members could review it. A motion to renew a systems-administration contract with Modem Waves was discussed; one select-person opposed based on a recent firewall-subscription lapse and the need for improved service-ticketing, and the board deferred further action pending additional review.
Other routine actions included approving the April 6 minutes and preparing materials for upcoming public hearings and staffing interviews. The board closed its meeting around 9:37 p.m.
No controversial legal or budgetary commitments were finalized for the auditing or IT contracts at the meeting; the FOA policy adoption and the deed signature were the principal formal outcomes recorded in the minutes.
