The Limerick Board of Select Persons approved motions on May 11 to invite payroll vendors to meet with the town and the treasurer to discuss payroll processing options.
Early in the meeting, Treasurer Julie proposed scheduling a workshop with MRI (a payroll firm) to work with the treasurer and board on payroll planning; members moved, seconded and approved that request. Later, board member Jerry reported contacting Bangor Savings Bank’s municipal payroll service and moved to authorize staff to set up a meeting with that vendor; the board seconded and approved the motion.
Members said they wanted vendors to explain services and to help the board and treasurer determine whether third‑party processing or a hybrid model best serves the town while preserving statutory duties. The workshop motions were procedural approvals to bring vendors in for demonstrations; no vendor contract was approved at the meeting.
Next steps agreed at the meeting: staff will contact vendors, schedule a workshop, and return with vendor materials and cost information for the board’s review.
