Leigh Campos, vice chair of the CIP Committee, submitted the committee’s minutes from the May 21, 2026 meeting, which record a series of assigned action items for town staff and the committee.
The most significant assignment asks Town staff to complete research and present a comprehensive buildings-and-grounds study in the fall that identifies deficiencies and prioritizes repairs across town-owned properties. The minutes also direct coordination between the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Recycling Committee and the Transfer Station group to ensure any DPW building upgrades account for potential transfer station expansion or relocation.
On roads, the committee asked the Town to distribute the five-year road improvement capital project list to committee members and to obtain a 10-year road improvement and repair plan from the engineer that includes detailed project costs and annual funding requirements. Committee member Matt is recorded as slated to present a complete review of road priorities and funding needs to the CIP committee in the spring; the committee also asked staff to consider whether roads should continue to be prioritized through the CIP process or be handled separately by the Select Board.
The minutes record a directive to update and present the DPW vehicle and equipment replacement plan so that replacement costs reflect current market values and anticipated trade-in offsets. The Town is to research the optimal replacement options and timing for the 2014 John Deere backhoe in advance of its scheduled 2028 replacement year and to investigate how previous major equipment purchases were funded for planning reference. The committee also asked staff to monitor the condition and maintenance costs of the 2021 Chevrolet dump truck and the 2024 Chevrolet pickup and determine if replacement will be justified closer to their scheduled replacement years.
Several administrative actions were recorded: Tina was assigned to email all committee members about re-completing and submitting required paperwork; the committee agreed to revote and re-evaluate all 2026 capital project priorities (including roads) and to update the CIP presentation and scoring for Select Board review; members were reminded to complete required paperwork. The minutes direct committee staff to prepare recommendations for the Select Board that separate high-priority projects recommended for funding from others and to document the prioritization rationale.
The committee scheduled a follow-up meeting in the fall to review the completed buildings-and-grounds study and the updated 10-year road plan. The minutes also record that the Chief will present the 2026 capital request plan to the Select Board at its next meeting.
