The Coralville Arts Commission convened at 12:03 PM on Feb. 3 in the Coralville Public Library Board Room, approved the meeting agenda (moved by Carrie Houchins-Witt, seconded by Bob Goodfellow) and approved December and January minutes (moved by Ann Burton, seconded by Alicia Lenz).
The commission received a brief update from Evan Hilsabeck for CCPA: director’s notes were distributed and the group completed a cast recording last week for the new Footliters Traveling Playhouse musical. Amy Sundermann reported for City Circle Theatre Company that a recent cabaret at Field Day Brewing sold 72 tickets, generated $260 in raffle sales and received at least one donation; she said casting for The Drowsy Chaperone is finalizing and that Jesus Christ Superstar is scheduled March 20–22 and March 27–29.
Marc Doobay updated the commission on Young Footliters Youth Theatre activity: Footliters First Act ran Jan. 22–23 on the CCPA mainstage; the group held a reunion/movie night in January; A Wrinkle in Time (directed by Matt Falduto) has performances Friday at 7 p.m. and weekend matinees; and Footliters Imagination Studio will present Curious George later this month with four shows at the CCPA followed by a free tour to local schools aimed at second- and third-graders. Doobay also said there will be an interest meeting for a YF board on Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. in the CCPA lobby.
Under new business, Sherri Proud said the commission will place an open-records training session on the March 3 agenda and that it will take at least an hour. The meeting also included a budget review that listed projected income of $1,379,939 for the year and an anticipated 2,540 program hours; members were asked to contact Evan with questions or comments. There was no public comment, and the meeting adjourned.
