Village administrator details $2.2M Bodmer Avenue waterline estimate, WWTP RFQ and paving delay

Village Administrator Mike Rosenberry told the Strasburg Village Council on Oct. 1 that several public works projects and grant opportunities are under active consideration. Rosenberry said contractors have reached out about the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) request for qualifications and tours are being scheduled, and that United Survey will begin preparatory work in one to two days with pipe rehabilitation expected to start within one to two weeks.
Rosenberry reported that the Bodmer Avenue waterline replacement carries a planning estimate of about $2.2 million and that staff will look for grant funding to help pay for the project. He also said Sibley Mart will replace its fuel tanks, a change that may delay paving on Zeltman Avenue until 2025; Rosenberry is meeting with the Sibley Mart owner to discuss drainage, sign placement and a right-turn lane.
Other items Rosenberry listed included pending electrical work at the park flag pole and stadium press box, meetings with AEP on Oct. 15 to discuss power for a concession stand, and coordination with OMEGA on grant funding for park exercise equipment along the walking trail. Wolfe’s was awarded sidewalk replacement at LEVCO, Rosenberry said, and the village has scheduled fall cleanup and leaf pickup dates.
The administrator’s report provided estimated timelines rather than firm contract dates; council did not take formal action on the waterline estimate at the meeting but recorded direction to pursue grant opportunities.
