Strasburg council approves multiple emergency measures, sewer project and community items

The Strasburg Village Council on Aug. 6 approved several emergency resolutions and ordinances, adopted projects for village infrastructure and park maintenance, and cleared routine administrative items.
Resolutions and ordinances adopted as emergencies included Resolution 2024‑16 (hiring crossing guards), Resolution 2024‑18 (interim pay increases for certain department employees) and Resolution 2024‑19 (hiring one EMT/firefighter). Ordinance O‑17‑2024, which amends and restates Strasburg Codified Municipal Regulation 92.02, was also approved as an emergency ordinance.
In operational and capital items, the council approved a $37,000 estimate to enclose the sewer plant garage after Village Administrator Mike Rosenberry presented the estimate; Wes Hostetler moved the approval and Kathy Burrier seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The council also agreed not to bill Tusc Buckeye Power Wash for 1,400 gallons of bulk water used to clean the park and approved purchase of paint and materials for the Boy Scouts.
Administrative items included scheduling the finance committee to review the 2024–25 budget and approving village‑issued cell phones for the Village Administrator, Street Superintendent and Water/Sewer Superintendent.
Minutes of the July 22 and August 3 meetings were approved (the July 22 minutes passed with one abstention; the Aug. 3 special meeting minutes passed with one abstention). The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
