Glendale reviews water-system progress, fire department budget and July 4 plans

The council discussed setting an approval threshold for purchases above a certain amount so large-fire purchases are coordinated with the council. The fire representative described maintenance, pump tests, and equipment concerns including SCBA and tanks.
The council also discussed July 4th plans: parade lineup time, town-provided dinner and interest in fireworks. The fire representative warned of dry conditions and recommended caution; council members agreed to proceed if there are sufficient personnel and pre-event mitigation (mowing, water spray) and to postpone the fireworks if weather or wind makes them unsafe.
Council asked staff to follow up with the fire department for a proposed budget with line items and to bring alternatives (labor, donated paint/materials) for tasks such as painting hydrants to improve visibility.
