Rangely students present FFA Creed to Town Council ahead of district contest

At its Feb. 25 meeting, the Rangely Town Council accommodated a public presentation from the local FFA chapter. The chapter winner, identified in the record as Miss Addie th, and runner-up Hayden Garcia recited the FFA Creed and answered council questions as practice ahead of a district contest next Monday.

The students were introduced by the FFA advisor, who identified themself in the transcript as "kle mlan," and said the two would represent Rangely at the district contest. Addie recited the Creed and, when asked by council members to explain the phrase "a faith born not of words but of Deeds," responded: "I think that by saying a faith born not of words but of Deeds it's like showing that you have to back your words up with actions and you can't just say stuff and you have to hold true to that." The explanation was attributed to Addie in the meeting record.

Hayden Garcia also answered questions about specific lines of the Creed, describing "honest wealth" as "putting in as much work as like how much you want to earn" and explaining the phrase "in the promise of better days through better ways" as finding more positive ways to live and work. The advisor told council the students had already presented the Creed in class and had a local contest, with the chapter winner and runner-up selected to advance.

Council members praised both students’ performances and encouraged them to continue public speaking. The advisor said the district contest is next Monday and that, if they advance, the state contest would be the first week of June.
