The Village of Valparaiso Board of Trustees approved a parks board personnel change and budgeted funds for park equipment at its Sept. 9 meeting.
Park Committee member Nikki Draper requested that Hailey Teten replace Amanda Hill on the parks board. Trustee Brightenburg moved to approve the appointment; Draper seconded and the motion passed.
Trustees also approved a budget allocation of $3,262.50 to fund new park equipment across this and the next fiscal year. The park committee outlined plans that include food-truck fundraisers, brick memorials, murals and special-event days to help raise funds. Trustee Draper asked to use the town square for a Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 25; trustees approved that request, with Trustee Draper recorded as abstaining on the Trunk or Treat vote.
The parks committee received a transparency-related suggestion in the suggestion box about posting minutes and agendas; trustees noted the comment for follow-up.
