Valparaiso trustees approve $60,000 transfer from sewer CD to fund equipment upgrades

At its July 8 meeting the Village of Valparaiso Board of Trustees unanimously approved a motion to transfer $60,000 from a sewer certificate of deposit into the village operating account when the CD comes up for renewal to help pay for equipment upgrades.
The motion was made by Trustee Turnwall and seconded by Trustee Brightenburg and carried with all trustees voting in favor. Village Superintendent Nick Sanders told the board that HTM inspected village equipment and that upgrades will be needed in the near future; Sanders also reported routine maintenance activity including Oak Creek 4‑H volunteers painting fire hydrants and ongoing park bathroom updates by staff member Jessie.
The transfer is contingent on the CD maturing; staff will move the funds at renewal and apply them toward the specified equipment improvements. No specific equipment pieces or vendor contracts were announced at the meeting.
