Chair: Cleveland to raise water and sewer connection fees to match Castle Valley

Cleveland Town Council on June 11 approved a resolution increasing town water and sewer connection fees to match recent rate increases from the Castle Valley Special Service District. The change takes effect June 12, 2026.

The town read the resolution into the record before the vote. A staff member read the fee schedule, including: “For three-quarter-inch culinary connection, the fee will be $2,300; for a 1-inch culinary connection, the fee will be $2,850; for a 1.5-inch connection, $5,600; for a 2-inch connection, $6,500. For a 4-inch sewer connection, the fee will be $1,600; for a 6-inch sewer connection, $3,000,” and the resolution specifies the effective date as 06/12/2026. The resolution text states it will be posted after passage.

The chair explained the town was not independently recalculating charges but matching the special service district’s increase: “the Castle Valley service district increased their rates, and so the town is only increasing our rates the same amount that the special service district is,” the chair said. The council clarified that secondary-water connection fees were not being increased.

After brief questions from council members about specific connection sizes and amounts, a councilor moved to approve the resolution and a second was offered. The council conducted a roll-call sequence of affirmative responses; the chair announced the resolution was approved.

The resolution and its fee schedule will be posted per the text read during the meeting, and the increases apply to new connections effective June 12. The council did not change secondary-water connection fees at this meeting.
