At a June 11 public hearing, the chair of the Town of Cleveland said the town will raise its water and sewer connection fees to match increases recently adopted by the special service district that supplies utilities to the area.
The chair said the town is increasing its rates by the exact amounts the service district raised them. "So, like, the 3 quarter culinary connection, they raised their fee to us $300, so we're raising our fee $300," the chair said. He added that secondary connections will not be increased because the town's current secondary rates remain competitive with the service district's.
The change follows an announcement by the special service district and is presented as an administrative adjustment so the town's charges mirror the district's new schedule. A staff member answered a council question about common connection sizes and confirmed the typical 1.5-inch connection is the size most often discussed.
No members of the public offered comment during the hearing. The chair said the council would defer reading the full resolution to the regular meeting where the formal ordinance or resolution text will be presented.
