Wymore council approves event funding, appointments and routine expenditures

Councilwoman Sue Sapp made the motion, which Councilman Max Allen seconded. The motion carried 4-0.
Councilman Neil Van Boening moved to appoint Ted Huls to the Police Department Advisory Committee; Max Allen seconded and the council approved the appointment 4-0.
On financial business the council first approved minutes and the bulk of claims and payroll. Several checks were set aside for separate votes. The council then approved checks #29427 and #29459 in a vote carried 3-0 with Councilman Max Allen recorded as abstaining. Approval of check #29432 carried 3-0 with Neil Van Boening abstaining. Approval of check #29435 carried 3-0 with Curt Oblinger abstaining.
Fire Chief Mark Meints asked to attend the Nebraska Chiefs Association Symposium in Crawford on March 15, 2025; he said grant money is available to cover expenses. The council approved his attendance (motion by Max Allen, seconded by Curt Oblinger) 4-0.
The council also asked the fire chief to provide a monthly police-activity report so members can better respond to public inquiries about law enforcement activity. No formal vote was recorded on the reporting request.
The meeting recessed for an executive session later in the agenda to discuss a Fire Department cadet applicant; the body returned before adjourning at 8:42 p.m.
What happens next: the Sam Wymore Days committee will proceed with facility reservations and the city will withdraw the authorized Keno funds when needed. The appointment and expense approvals are effective immediately; the cadet applicant was discussed in closed session and no public action was recorded in the minutes.
