Deidra Hodges told the Wymore City Council on April 16 that the house at 320 S 9th Street has not had water or heat for the last five years and that her brother, Shawn, is living there without a lease. Hodges provided a phone number for Krystal MaAlecy, who she said is one of the property owners. City Attorney Andy Carothers said he would contact the owner to seek permission to inspect the residence.
Hodges' report was recorded during the public comment portion of the meeting. The council took no immediate enforcement action at the April 16 meeting but directed the city attorney to pursue contact with the owner to arrange inspection.
Separately, Attorney Carothers said he would contact Eric Tiemann to obtain a timeline for demolition of the Gambles building and that Marlene would be notified before power is disconnected to the structure. Those items will return to a future agenda as follow-ups.
