Carlee Fiddes, representing the Humane Society, told the Wymore City Council on May 21 that the organization is preparing a Catch and Release program and wants to hold community meetings to explain the program and take questions.
The council approved use of the community center for public awareness meetings on June 3 and June 17, and unanimously waived camping fees at Arbor State Park for June 19 and 20 so attendees could participate. The council also approved providing a letter commitment to support the Humane Society’s application in the next round of the Morris Foundation grant.
Fiddes said the Humane Society had reserved the community center for two days to host discussions; the council’s approvals include logistical support and a documented letter of commitment to accompany the grant application. The meeting record shows the approvals passed by motion without recorded opposition.
The Humane Society’s public meetings and the grant application are next steps; the council’s fee waivers are limited to the stated dates.
