Humane Society asks Wymore council for about $5,000 to expand TNR program

Carlee Fiddes, Shelter Director for the Humane Society, told the Wymore City Council April 16 the organization needs additional resources to run a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program for community cats. Fiddes said the Humane Society received a grant from the Morris Endowment Grant but is "still needing about $5,000 for this project."
Fiddes outlined several specific needs: housing for workers, housing for cats, additional traps, connections with caregivers to support the animals, and funding to cover the program's remaining costs. She said the group plans to coordinate with officials in Blue Springs and that the event they have in mind would take place June 21; she mentioned she would attend the Blue Springs City Council meeting to discuss running the event in both towns.
The council placed the item on the next agenda for further consideration and potential action. No funding decision was recorded during the April 16 meeting.
