Wymore council approves 1- and 6-year street plan after public hearing

The Wymore City Council voted April 16 to approve the city's 1- and 6-year street plan following a public hearing. City Superintendent Tim Sedlacek told the council the document before them was primarily the one-year plan "needed to start drawdowns for the next project," and he confirmed the plan includes work on additional streets.
The hearing was opened at 7:19 p.m. on a motion by Councilman Max Allen, seconded by Curt Oblinger, and closed on a motion by Allen, seconded by Sue Sapp. The council then approved the plan on a motion by Allen, seconded by Sapp; the motion carried 4-0. The approved one-year plan will be used to initiate grant drawdowns for forthcoming street work.
Separately, the council discussed a proposed vacation of F Street. Attorney Andy Carothers reported that resident Rick Jurgens raised concerns about vacating F Street from 18th to 19th because of a nearby well; the council noted that an easement will not be required for the F Street segment between 17th and 18th, and that half of that street segment would revert to adjacent property owners. An ordinance to vacate F Street from 17th to 18th was placed on the council's next meeting agenda for further action.
The council's approval of the 1- and 6-year plan provides the administration the procedural step needed to begin drawing down funds for the next planned street project.
