State selects Revere for DESE’s Accelerating Achievement initiative; four district schools named

Dr. Kelly told the School Committee on June 16 that the new Commissioner of Education, Pedro Martinez, has launched an Accelerating Achievement program and identified 80 districts to participate; Revere is one of them.
"The new Commissioner of Education Pedro Martinez has created a new program called accelerating achievement... Revere being one of them," Dr. Kelly said, describing a kickoff meeting attended by teams from Revere’s four identified schools: Revere High School, Rumney Marsh Academy, Lincoln Elementary and Susan B. Anthony. The superintendent said the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will review district improvement plans and pair districts that share improvement priorities to facilitate peer-to-peer learning. She said DESE will provide resources and grant funding to support teacher participation.
Committee members asked clarifying questions. Dr. Kelly confirmed the list and explained the mix: one high school, two middle schools and one elementary school will participate. District staff said teacher teams will work with counterparts from other districts to identify two or three priorities for the district and receive grant-funded time to collaborate on solutions.
The committee received the report as an informational update; no formal vote was taken.
