Valparaiso trustees unanimously approve final tax request and adopt budget

Chairperson Dan Homes opened the hearing at 6:30 p.m. at the Valparaiso Senior Center. Trustees Brightenburg, Draper, Turnwall and Homes were present, along with Village Superintendent Nick Sanders and six members of the public.

Trustees reviewed this year’s request compared with last year’s request and were briefed on the village’s allowable property-tax authority and statutory limitations; the minutes state that the authority and limitations were shared but do not list specific dollar amounts.
Trustee Brightenburg moved to approve the budget "as posted," and Trustee Turnwall seconded. The motion passed with a recorded vote of "YEA: All." Shortly afterward Brightenburg moved to adjourn at 6:40 p.m.; Turnwall seconded and the motion carried.
