The superintendent said rooftop unit (RTU) replacements are in process: the RTUs were installed on the roof and a crane is scheduled to arrive, with factory setup and roof work planned for June 15 through June 19. Marcus, a maintenance staffer cited during the report, described ongoing wiring cleanups and classroom network cabling work to prepare for the upcoming school year.
Administrators also said the school wellness policy review is complete and the required report was submitted after the board approved a set of related policies. The superintendent noted that MISLIP (rate) changes look flat for the coming year, which the administration presented as favorable for budgeting purposes.
The board also heard curriculum and staffing updates from a West Valley Teachers Organization representative: the staff-selected theme for next year is "small actions, big impact," the UFly curriculum used this year for first and second grades will expand to kindergarten next year, and instructional coaches from District 5 will provide training for K-2 teachers. Administrators said they will prepare a brief presentation on assessment data for the board's August meeting.
Administrators announced staffing needs and hires: the district is still recruiting two paraprofessional positions and a football coach, and introduced newly hired librarian Alexis Cohen, who staff said will join next school year.
The board did not take action specific to the audit at the meeting; routine budget and billing items were handled in separate votes. The superintendent framed the audit result and the improved financial position as a sign of steadier district finances heading into the next budget cycle.
