North Haledon council bans parking in EV charging spaces at 103 Overlook Ave.

The Borough of North Haledon Mayor and Council adopted Ordinance #15-2024 on Aug. 21, 2024, revising Chapter 169 of the borough code to restrict use of parking spaces marked “Charging Station” at 103 Overlook Avenue to vehicles actively charging. The ordinance states that any person who parks in those spaces without actively charging shall be subject to penalty provisions in Chapter 1, Article II, General Penalty, with each day’s violation constituting a separate offense.
Council Member Donna Puglisi moved to open the public comment period; no members of the public spoke and the floor was closed. By unanimous roll call, the council passed the ordinance on second and final reading, and authorized the Clerk to publish notice of adoption as required by law.
The ordinance applies specifically to the borough-owned parking spaces at 103 Overlook Avenue and takes effect immediately upon final adoption and publication. The change formalizes enforcement authority for the charging-station spaces and adds a daily-penalty structure to help deter noncharging vehicles from occupying EV spots.
