Wymore council approves housing plan NV27223, contractor contract and routine motions

The Wymore City Council approved several routine measures and two substantive items during its Jan. 15, 2025 meeting in the council chambers.
The council unanimously approved the larger housing plan for the Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) project—plan NV27223—after City Superintendent Tim Sedlacek presented two designs and councilors said the larger house best fit the lot size and location. "There is a demand for new housing due to the lack of housing in southern Gage County," Sedlacek said, and council members voted 4-0 to approve the larger plan.
City Attorney Andy Carothers reviewed a contract with R L Tiemann. Resident Gloria Henderson identified a typographical error; the council approved the contract contingent on correcting that typo (motion by Max Allen, seconded by Neil Van Boening; motion carried 4-0).
On financial business the council approved the minutes and the treasurer’s report and moved to approve Claims & Payroll, with a separate handling of two checks. Council voted to approve all claims except checks #29281 and #29310 (motion carried 4-0); later the council approved check #29281 by a 3-0 vote with Councilman Max Allen recorded as abstaining, and approved check #29310 by a 3-0 vote with Councilman Curt Oblinger recorded as abstaining.
The council also discussed fire-department fund transfers and procedural budgeting matters. Councilors directed staff to review the past three fiscal years to determine remaining MFO funds for the fire department; identified funds will be placed into a new Money Market account at fiscal year end after claims are processed. Attorney Carothers advised that the tax budget must be used for expenses where applicable.
Council approved a request for Deputy Clerk Krystal Rutti to attend the Mid-Winter Conference Feb. 24–25, 2025 (motion by Max Allen, seconded by Sue Sapp; motion carried 4-0), and the meeting was adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
What happens next: staff will proceed with the SENDD housing plan as approved and review fire-department MFO balances for year-end transfer. Any contract with R L Tiemann will be executed after correction of the identified typographical error.
