Wymore council hears from community groups on flags, park improvements and TNR program; demolition contract noted

During public comment and business updates on June 4, the Wymore City Council addressed a set of community program and maintenance items. Resident Lawrence Mallam asked who is handling the holiday flags; council said the city usually funds a local group $500 to post flags, but no application has been received this year and Utility Superintendent Tim Sedlacek will contact the group that did the job last year.
Council Person Max Allen asked to place on the next agenda a proposal to apply for a grant to apply Agra Lime to the McCandless Park ball field as an initial improvement step. Neil Van Boening reported the concession stand is currently run by Janice Cohorst and Roselee Reedy with plans to donate proceeds back to the program and asked the Park Board to get involved because there is no functioning ball association.
Carlee Fiddes of the Beatrice Humane Society reported on a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program scheduled to start on June 21; she left door tags and a volunteer sign-up sheet at the City Office for residents who want to participate or register cats. Council also noted a demolition contract for a dilapidated building at 217 S 7th Street is ready for signature at Willet and Carothers for R. L. Tiemann to sign.
