During the Nov. 6 meeting, Hanover Engineering’s report to the commission summarized recent Board of Supervisors actions. The engineer reported that on Oct. 8 the Board passed a motion accepting a time extension for the Dollar General Mertztown land development plan until Jan. 7, 2025, and authorized the Township Solicitor to forward proposed Zoning Ordinance amendments to the Berks County Planning Commission for review. The report also noted the Board reviewed revisions to East Penn Manufacturing’s trailer parking lot expansion and, based on a revised buffer berm, expressed support for the variances requested and opted not to have the Township Solicitor attend the Zoning Hearing Board on the Board’s behalf.
The engineer further reported that, at an Oct. 22 meeting, the Board agreed to execute a Pre‑Plan Filing Construction and Indemnification Agreement for Mountain Village Section II to permit site grading and installation of erosion‑and‑sediment controls before final plan recording, conditioned on provision of a certificate of insurance and escrow with the Township. These items were reported to the Planning Commission for awareness and potential follow‑up during plan review and SALDO updates.
The minutes present these as actions already taken by the Board; the Planning Commission recorded them in the engineer’s report rather than acting on them directly. Any subsequent changes or appeals would be reflected in future Board or Zoning Hearing Board records.
