Longswamp parks commission approves 2025 budget proposal, authorizes event spending and sign purchases

The Longswamp Township Parks and Recreation Commission on Sept. 17, 2024 approved a proposed 2025 Parks & Recreation budget to recommend to the Board of Supervisors and authorized several event-related purchases and budget transfers.
Kristina DiGiampaolo, secretary, recorded that the commission approved the August 20, 2024 minutes and then moved to event planning. The commission post-approved food for the Volunteer Appreciation Picnic ($471.79) and pre-approved up to $600 for paper supplies and utensils. It also pre-approved up to $2,000 for the Great Pumpkin Hunt on Oct. 5, 2024, with a stated breakdown of Food $900, Bingo prizes $500, costume prizes $120, pumpkins $150 and a pig donation of $300. The Christmas Tree Lighting (Dec. 7, 2024) was placed on the calendar with no updates.
The commission approved the proposed 2025 budget to be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors (motion recorded 1st Kristina, 2nd Tyrene). It pre-approved the purchase of various signs for upcoming events, not to exceed $5,000, to be funded from leftover SwampFest budget. Two motions were recorded to recommend line-item transfers to the Board of Supervisors: $5,000 from line item #451.325 (Swampfest) to #451.020 (Park & Rec Supplies and Expenses), and $4,000 from #451.325 to #451.023 (Other Program Expense). The minutes record the makers and seconders for those motions but do not list vote tallies.
The commission also pre-approved a hot-dog and popcorn maker for use at events, not to exceed $4,000. Planning for SwampFest (June 14, 2025) and the April 4, 2025 Egg Hunt was discussed; SwampFest vendor planning was noted and the Egg Hunt had no updates. Commissioners discussed park upkeep items including parking-lot cleanups and pavilion rental/cleaning protocols but did not record specific budget actions for those items in the minutes.
