CDD files NPDES annual report, approves emergency street sweeping and equipment relocation discussions

District and consultant staff updated the Board on stormwater permitting and short-term operational responses after storms.

Mark Zordan presented the Lee County NPDES Permit FLS000035-004 Cycle 4 Year 7 Annual Report, which Lee County reviewed and approved and which will be submitted to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in advance of the Nov. 1, 2024 deadline. Staff were told to continue reporting into Year 8 until the new permit is issued. The Board discussed potential future changes in water-sampling requirements.

Premier Lakes staff and the Board also discussed relocating a nano-bubbler aerator (240V) that sits close to a homeowner’s lanai and related electrical work; staff will revisit contractor proposals and consider relocating roadside inlets and using a zombie box to move equipment away from homes. Mr. Kurth noted one nano-bubbler machine will need repair.

For storm cleanup, the Board approved an emergency Precision Cleaning, Inc. proposal for street sweeping (eight loads and eight passes completed) in a one-time amount of $1,475 and authorized staff to add additional week-to-week cleanings for the next month if needed.

The Board was also told that some lake and wetland signage are rusted and that staff and vendors will inspect and replace signs as needed.
