Representatives of the Southeastern Utah Junior Livestock Show thanked the Emery County Commission on Aug. 19 for a $55,000 donation and for the purchase of a new show ring used by local 4-H and FFA participants.
Kaylee Morris, presenting on behalf of the show, outlined the program's learning clinics, showmanship and judging contests, and fundraising events such as bingo and barbecue. "Raising and showing livestock requires a lot of hard work and dedication, but teaches many life skills and lessons that cannot be learned anywhere else," Kaylee said. She also noted the county donation and the purchase of the show ring helped the event accommodate a strong turnout.
An event volunteer identified as Peggy described the pet rabbit show and outreach for younger children; organizers said 41 kids participated in the pet rabbit show this year and that the show distributed sponsor materials, certificates and goodie bags to encourage return visitors to county attractions.
The commission thanked organizers and accepted the presentation. No policy action or funding vote was made at the meeting beyond recognizing and thanking the group for the support already provided.
