Imlay City Board approves millage rates, routine disbursements and ISD support

The Imlay City Board of Education approved several budget and finance actions at its May 18 meeting, including payment of General Fund and Lunch Fund bills totaling $2,406,430.00 and Bond Capital Project disbursements of $6,260.00.
Treasurer Doug Van Dyk moved to approve the General Fund and Lunch Fund disbursements and Vice President Kaylee Kaeding supported the motion; the roll-call vote recorded ayes from President Sharon Muir, Kaeding, Van Dyk, Alex Lengemann, Ashley Wolford and Laura Zelenak with no nays. Trustee Alex Lengemann moved and Kaeding supported approval of the Bond Capital Project checks; that motion also passed unanimously.
The board accepted the Financial Report and Capital Projects Report as presented in BoardBook.
On tax rates, the board set the debt millage rate at 5.5000 mills and the operating millage rate at 17.8304 mills for fiscal year 2026–27, authorizing the Director of Business Services to file form L-4029 with local municipalities. Trustee Lengemann moved the operating millage motion, which passed on a unanimous roll-call vote. The board also voted to support the Lapeer Intermediate School District general fund operating budget for 2026–2027 after a motion from Vice President Kaeding.
The board's votes were routine and unanimous on these items. The district will proceed with the certified millage filings and regular financial administration for the coming fiscal year.
