The Saranac Lake Central School District board approved the current budgetary/treasury report (Resolution 097-2025) at its June 17 meeting after hearing routine budget transfers from the business office. The transfers were primarily for substitute pay and a larger adjustment tied to the 'Boseies' program; most transfers were under $10,000, and one large transfer adjusted for a health-insurance overage, according to staff presentation.
The board also took a personnel/representative action by nominating Tori Thirst for the position of Area 6 director (resolution 09835). A motion and second were recorded and the board voiced its support for the nomination; members offered to provide recommendations to other schools and wished Thirst luck in the selection process.
Facilities staff updated the board on capital work at the new field, reporting that paving and ground-cover work remain incomplete and that the district must reach an established ground-cover threshold (staff noted a coverage requirement the permitting authority enforces) before permit closeout. Crews will return to add soil/seed and address standing water.
As this was the district’s final regular meeting of the school year, board member Mike presented an unscheduled recognition honoring Superintendent Diane Fox for her leadership. The board then moved to the cafeteria for refreshments and voted to convene an executive session to discuss collective negotiations and medical/financial credit history matters; the motion carried by voice vote.
