Venture Lititz director outlines downtown initiatives, eyes 2030 rail-trail link

Sam Thrush, executive director of Venture Lititz, told the Warwick Township Board of Supervisors on May 20 that he began leading the downtown organization in December 2025 and plans to expand its role in promotions and economic development.
Thrush said Venture Lititz is working to retain existing businesses, fill storefront vacancies and support streetscape projects such as an Edison-bulb lighting effort. He said two new businesses are scheduled to open downtown next month and the organization provides hands-on support—including writing letters of support—to help developers and existing business owners solve problems.
On regional projects, Thrush said the Lancaster County Transportation Improvement Plan includes an extension of the rail trail into Lititz Borough targeted for 2030. He said Venture Lititz will partner with the Lancaster County Economic Development Corporation on a Trails Town Initiative intended to connect trail users with downtown businesses.
Thrush said he has bicycled Warwick-area routes and the WERT trail and that his goals include codifying a five-year plan and strengthening partnerships so the organization can be held to visible objectives. He thanked the Board for the township’s past support.
The Board asked whether other boroughs or townships have similar downtown organizations; Thrush said there are several Main Street and downtown programs across Pennsylvania but not every community has the volunteer base or funding to sustain one. He also said Venture Lititz aims to improve promotional efforts and develop a formal five-year plan for accountability.
