Subcommittee reviews reappointment nominations and posts annual reports to agenda center

The New Castle County Boards and Commissions Subcommittee on June 16 reviewed a series of reappointment nominations and received an administrative update that annual reports from recent years have been posted to the agenda center.

Chair Dee Durham presented multiple reappointment nominations for the committee’s consideration, including Robert Hook Hicks for the Ethics Commission, Dolores McLamb for the Diversity Commission, William Smith for the Financial Advisory Council, Rose Passarella for the Library Advisory Board, Eric Cesar Haley for the Fire and Ambulance Advisory Board and Sally Jensen for the Ethics Commission. Members praised nominees’ service: one member noted Hicks began county service as an auditor and has continued to serve diligently, while another said Jensen is a retired county employee who also serves on Ellesmere’s town council.

The committee did not take final votes on the reappointments during this meeting; chair Durham indicated those items will be considered at the next meeting. Durham also announced that, after work with the administration, annual reports from the last few years have been posted to the agenda center and the committee pages for public access.

Why it matters: Reappointments maintain continuity on advisory boards that guide county policy on ethics, diversity, finance, libraries and emergency services. Posting annual reports to the agenda center increases public transparency and makes recent records more accessible to residents.
