Cudahy council removes Sexually Oriented Business overlay district, adopts five ordinances and five resolutions

The Cudahy Common Council on Oct. 4 approved Ordinance No. 2418 to remove Chapter 44, Article II, Division 25 — the Sexually Oriented Business (SOB) overlay district — and amended related zoning and code provisions, following a public hearing during which Economic Development Director Biernat presented the proposed changes and no members of the public spoke.
Council members then moved through a package of ordinances addressing administrative and code housekeeping. By roll call the council approved Ordinance Nos. 2437 (amending Section 38-1 concerning adoption of state and administrative law), 2438 (recodifying an animal code section into Sec. 4-15(b)), 2439 (removing a reference to a now-defunct building board related to salvage-dealer fence plans) and 2440 (correcting a scrivener’s error in Subsec. 6-159(4)a). Motions to approve the ordinances were generally made by Alderperson St. Marie-Boelkow and seconded by Alderperson Litkowiec; the motions carried unanimously on roll-call votes.
The council also approved five resolutions: Resolution No. 7074 recognizing the Friends of Pulaski Park as Friends Group of the Year; Resolution Nos. 7076, 7077 and 7078 approving certified survey maps for 3630 E. Edgerton Ave., 3861 E. Carpenter Ave., and 3413 E. Bottsford Ave., respectively; and Resolution No. 7079 vacating and discontinuing part of a public alley in the 3600 block area (addresses listed in council documents). Each resolution passed by unanimous roll call.

The actions conclude a packet of mainly administrative and zoning changes. Economic Development Director Biernat presented the ordinance that eliminated the SOB overlay district during the public hearing; no public testimony was recorded on that item. The council set a separate public hearing (Dec. 6) for an alley vacation related to an ATI Ladish LLC parking expansion and otherwise completed routine business before adjourning at 8:16 p.m.
Meeting documents list a claims report ending Sept. 30, 2016 of $381,600.00 that was approved on the consent agenda.
