Knight Road resident asks for zoning change to allow small go‑kart track; board refers request to Planning Commission

Terri Thomaston, a resident of Knight Road, asked the board to consider a text amendment to the zoning ordinance to permit a quarter‑mile go‑kart track on a three‑acre parcel on Knight Road. Thomaston said the proposed track would be limited to 5‑horsepower go‑carts.

Following discussion, Commissioner Joe Adams moved and Commissioner Larry Hooks seconded a motion to refer Thomaston's request to the Planning Commission for review; the board voted unanimously to refer the matter. The referral means the Planning Commission will consider whether the county's zoning ordinance should be amended and may hold hearings or make recommendations back to the board.

Later in the meeting residents raised two drainage concerns: Mac Walter requested rainwater be redirected away from his house on Abner Road, and Gerald Harjo reported a stopped drain at Mahaley Road near the church. Public Works Director Darold Wiggins said the department would look into both issues and prepare repairs as needed.
