Heard County public works director outlines road maintenance process, flags Victory Road for more work

Darold Wiggins, Heard County Public Works Director, presented the department's process for determining which corrective actions to take on which roads and when. Wiggins provided data showing an increase in road department productivity accompanied by a decrease in expenditures.
Chairman Lee Boone said he and Wiggins had discussed the process and that it appears to allow the road department to be more productive. Wiggins told the board there remains additional work to be done on Victory Road. Commissioner Keri Denney asked Wiggins for a list of roads planned for work in 2015 so the board and the public can see priorities.
Wiggins also responded to public comments later in the meeting asking staff to evaluate drainage and stopped drains on specific roads; he said the road department would investigate and prepare repairs as needed.
