Heard County commissioners appoint leadership, approve clerk and attorney, set 2015 meetings

The Heard County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 27 appointed Commissioner Gwen Caldwell as vice-chair for 2015 and approved several county officer appointments and procedural items. Chairman Lee Boone recommended Patty Jiles as county clerk and Jerry Ann Conner as county attorney; the board approved both appointments unanimously. The board also approved reappointing Kim Kimmel as county auditor with a requested fee increase of $1,500 from the prior year for a total fee of $22,500.
The board set its 2015 meeting schedule to the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the courtroom of the Heard County Courthouse. Commissioners voted unanimously to make the change.
Chairman Boone told the board that County Attorney Jerry Ann Conner had reviewed the Title VI Plan for Heard County Transit and found it in order; on a motion by Commissioner Keri Denney, seconded by Commissioner Larry Hooks, the board unanimously approved the plan. Boone said the Title VI approval is required for the county to continue receiving federal and state transit funding.
All personnel and procedural motions recorded in the meeting minutes passed unanimously. The board adjourned after routine public comments and reports from department staff.
