Heard County commissioners appoint deputy clerk and three tax assessors, reappoint JDA member

The Heard County Board of Commissioners on July 15, 2025, made several unanimous appointments: Sandy Cox was appointed Deputy Clerk; Dustin Pate, Melinda Noles and Debra Joe Steele were appointed to the Heard County Board of Tax Assessors for four-year terms beginning July 15, 2025 and expiring July 30, 2029; and Phyllis Woodson was reappointed to the 20/27 Corridor Joint Development Authority Board for a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2025 and expiring Dec. 31, 2029.
The Deputy Clerk appointment was moved by Commissioner James Perry, seconded by Commissioner Larry Hammond, and approved unanimously. Dustin Pate’s appointment to the Board of Tax Assessors was moved by Commissioner David Walls, seconded by Commissioner James Perry, and approved unanimously. Melinda Noles was appointed on a motion by Commissioner Larry Hammond and seconded by Commissioner Curtis Mock; Debra Joe Steele was appointed on a motion by Commissioner Curtis Mock and seconded by Commissioner Larry Hammond. All appointment votes were unanimous.
The Board also reappointed Phyllis Woodson to the 20/27 Corridor Joint Development Authority Board on a unanimous vote; the minutes record the term dates for that reappointment. No disagreements or recorded public objections to these appointments appear in the minutes provided.
These personnel and board appointments will be recorded in county files and take effect as stated in the minutes.
