The Heard County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously April 28 to adopt a seatbelt policy and a return-to-work policy as recommended by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).
County Clerk Patty Jiles presented the policies and told the board adopting them would allow the county to receive a 5% insurance safety discount. Commissioners approved incorporating the policies into the county employee handbook on a motion by Commissioner Larry Hooks, seconded by Commissioner Keri Denney.
The minutes state the policies will be distributed to each employee; the record does not specify an implementation date or changes to employee disciplinary procedures beyond distribution and handbook incorporation.
