Florence Council approves ABC license renewals, escrow agreements and introduces two police equipment ordinances

At the June 3 meeting the council unanimously approved multiple ABC license renewals (Res. 2026-115–124), escrow agreements and amended municipal support for a cannabis applicant (Res. 2026-125–127), and approved introduction/first-reading of Ordinances 2026-12 ($40,000 firearms) and 2026-13 ($170,000 police SUVs).
The Florence Township Council on June 3 approved a slate of routine administrative measures, unanimously voting to renew multiple liquor licenses, authorize escrow agreements, amend prior municipal support for a cannabis applicant and to introduce two police-related ordinances.
Resolutions 2026-115 through 2026-124 approved renewal of ABC licenses for local businesses and organizations, including Liquor Barn, Town Liquor, Florence Wine & Liquor, VRS Holdings, JJC Restaurant Group, American Legion Post 194, Punam Corporation, American Slovak Citizen Club, Vito in Florence, LLC and Pipa Holdings, LLC. The motion to approve the slate passed with roll-call yeas from Council members John Fratinardo, Frederick Gabriele, Talaya Loftin, Gina Sullivan and Joseph Frappolli.
Council also passed Resolutions 2026-125 and 2026-126 to authorize escrow agreements for Florence Food Center, LLC and Victor Roberts Group, LLC, and approved Resolution 2026-127 amending prior municipal support for LFB, LLC’s application for a Class 5 cannabis retailer license to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission.
On ordinance matters, the council introduced Ordinance 2026-12, authorizing $40,000 to purchase firearms, sights and accessories for the Police Department, and Ordinance 2026-13, authorizing $170,000 for two pursuit-rated SUVs with upfit and emergency equipment. Administration and the police explained the need to modernize equipment — including moving to 9mm ammunition for availability — and to replace vehicles that have high run-time; both ordinance introductions passed on first reading unanimously and will return for second reading and adoption on June 17, 2026.
Other routine motions included approval of the May 20 minutes, the Township Clerk’s May report, and the Treasurer’s bill list. Council adopted Resolution 2026-128 to enter closed session to discuss personnel and adjourned after returning to the regular meeting; no public action followed the closed session.
