Beardstown council approves minutes and consent agenda, hears routine department reports

The Beardstown City Council unanimously approved the Oct. 22, 2024 meeting minutes and the Nov. 5 consent agenda at its regular meeting held Nov. 5 at Beardstown City Hall.

A motion by Alderperson Lisa Buhlig to dispense with and approve the minutes was seconded by Alderperson Mary Davis and passed unanimously by voice vote. A subsequent omnibus consent motion by Alderperson Dawn Seward, seconded by Alderperson Shawn Taylor, passed unanimously by roll call under the meeting's Omnibus Vote Designation.

City staff filed routine department reports: the Water Superintendent reported October pumping at 14,059,172 gallons and a May 1–April 30 year-to-date total of 96,292,850 gallons. The Police Chief's report listed May–April year-to-date incident totals such as 3,527 calls answered, 42 criminal arrests, and 204 traffic arrests; several monthly line items were recorded as "N/A" in the minutes. The Fire Chief's September report showed 13 city fires and 8 rural fires for September and year-to-date totals of 92 city fires and 25 rural fires (117 total including mutual aid and rescues).

Code enforcement and the zoning officer submitted October reports attached to the minutes. The council reviewed disbursements for the period ending Nov. 5, 2024 and adjourned the meeting at 7:23 p.m. on a motion by Alderperson Dawn Seward, seconded by Alderperson Chris Baer.
