Sheboygan County Board unanimously approves budget flexibility, justice grant application and per-diem report

At its June 16 meeting the Sheboygan County Board voted unanimously to authorize the finance director and committee to balance over-budget departmental accounts, concurred with the 2025–2026 per-diem report, and approved applying for a FY2026 Justice Assistance Grant with an MOU with the City of Sheboygan.
The Sheboygan County Board of Supervisors on June 16 unanimously approved three administrative measures aimed at routine fiscal housekeeping and grant-seeking.
Supervisor Wegner moved and Supervisor Vander Weele seconded adoption of Resolution No. 03 (2026/27), which authorizes the Finance Committee and the Finance Director to reconcile and balance departmental accounts that exceed budget appropriations. The motion carried on a unanimous roll call vote, with 23 supervisors recorded present that evening.
Following that vote, the board concurred with the 2025–2026 per-diem report after a motion from Supervisor J. Nelson and a second from Supervisor H. Nelson; that motion also passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
The board then adopted Resolution No. 04 (2026/27), authorizing the county to apply for the Fiscal Year 2026 Justice Assistance Grant (local solicitation) and to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the City of Sheboygan. Supervisor Otte moved adoption and Supervisor Jorgensen seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
County Administrator Alayne Krause had earlier told the board the courthouse elevator will be replaced over the next three months and briefly previewed the two resolutions and the per-diem report before they were considered.
All three measures were recorded as unanimous roll call votes in the meeting journal. The board referred additional, separate items (a land-swap resolution and two ordinance changes) to committee for future consideration. The meeting adjourned at 6:14 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for July 21, 2026.
