Board approves Hungry Canyons agreement for Oakfield 16 culvert; Secondary Roads notes resignations

Engineer Mitch Rydl told the board the Oakfield 16 bridge will be removed and replaced with a culvert and that Hungry Canyons funds will pay for part of the work. The board approved the Hungry Canyons agreement on a motion by Don Mosinski with a second by Kent Grabill; the minutes record the vote as 'all in favor.'
Rydl said Secondary Roads has had two recent resignations and that he will reach out to the HR attorney regarding exit interviews. During a longer budget discussion, residents and supervisors considered whether contracting out some roadwork could reduce equipment and labor costs; Rydl agreed to research a cost analysis.
The board also discussed extending equipment life and staggered replacement schedules for motor graders to avoid simultaneous failures and to reduce near-term capital spending.
