Christie Blair, a member of the South Summit Cemetery District board, presented renderings and requested the city consider a $9,500 contribution toward a proposed veterans memorial on cemetery property across from Oakley Cemetery. Blair said the cemetery board has committed $10,000 and the memorial would honor local service members while providing a permanent place for reflection and community gatherings. She said local businesses and residents could contribute for enhancements including flags, landscaping and benches.
Councilors thanked Blair and placed the request on a future consent calendar for further staff review and formal consideration at an upcoming meeting. Blair said renderings and supplemental materials were shared with staff prior to the meeting.
