Board accepts deeded parcels from city and county, approves property management and management‑contract assignment
Summary
The board accepted deed transfers from the City of Bloomington and Monroe County for parcels south of the convention center, approved acquisition of a vacated alley, insurance binders, transitional property management by PMI, and authorized assignment and modification of the convention center management agreement with CCMC to add CBC for promotion and sales.
Mr. Whitlatch updated the board that deed transfers from the City of Bloomington (parking lots south of the current center) and from Monroe County (additional adjacent commercial and residential parcels) were completed in early June. He said one county parcel west of the center remained pending transfer.
He asked the board to approve four related items: (1) an ownership agreement for a previously vacated alley totaling 396 square feet, (2) acquisition of insurance binders for the newly acquired real estate, (3) acceptance of the commercial and residential properties into CIB management, and (4) contracting PMI to manage those properties during the transition at a flat fee of $2,500 per month. Whitlatch said PMI had previously managed the properties under contract with the county and agreed to the flat monthly fee to continue services during the transition. The board approved the four items together.
Separately, Whitlatch presented an assignment and modification of the convention center management agreement with CCMC (the existing management company led by Telicia Copics). The proposed action would assign Monroe County’s management agreement to the CIB and modify the agreement to add the CBC as a party responsible for promotion, marketing and sales (anticipated to be carried out through Visit Bloomington). The board approved the assignment and authorized execution so the agreement can be routed to CCMC, CBC and the county for consent.
Board members thanked Whitlatch and staff for their work on coordinating the transfers and agreements.
