The Beardstown City Council on July 16 voted unanimously to award a paving contract and approve Motor Fuel Tax funding for the 15th Street/Sangamon Street project.
A motion by Chris Baer, seconded by Keith Schramm, approved the bid from Illinois Valley Paving, a division of UCM, Inc., in the amount of $157,736.59 for the 15th Street/Sangamon Street project. The motion passed by a 7–0 roll call vote with Alderperson Shawn Taylor absent.
Separately, a motion by Alderwoman Dawn Seward, seconded by Eric Harbin, approved a Resolution for Improvement under the Highway Code in the amount of $170,000 to fund the project; that resolution also passed 7–0. The two actions together establish the contractor selection and the city's use of Motor Fuel Tax funds to support the work.
The council conducted the votes after filing routine reports earlier in the meeting; no public comments were recorded during the session. The meeting adjourned at 7:02 p.m.
