Broken Bow council schedules budget hearing, reappoints housing authority member and approves airport interlocal

The Broken Bow City Council handled routine municipal business on Aug. 27, 2024, setting a Sept. 24 budget hearing, reappointing a housing authority board member and approving an interlocal agreement with the Broken Bow Airport Authority for the 2024-25 budget year.
Councilmember Russ Smith moved, and Luke Wassom seconded, to set the Budget Hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.; the motion passed unanimously. The council also approved re-appointing Rick Maas to the Broken Bow Housing Authority Board for a term ending in August 2029; that motion was moved by Luke Wassom and seconded by Paul Holland and passed 3-0.
During a bid opening for Resolution 2024-06 (the sale of surplus real property valued over $5,000), the city received no bids. Administrator Dave Schmidt told the council that, because there were no bids, administration plans to reevaluate options for the property.
The council approved an interlocal agreement with the Broken Bow Airport Authority for the 2024-25 budget year; the motion was moved by Paul Holland, seconded by Russ Smith and approved unanimously. Council also approved temporary event and construction-related parking changes: closing select square parking on Sept. 12, 2024 for Healthcare on the Square (approx. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and temporarily eliminating parking on C Street between N. 7th and N. 9th Avenues for the 2024-25 school year to accommodate BBPS construction.
There were no public comments recorded and no further council business. The meeting adjourned at 6:29 p.m.
