City of Broken Bow accepts 'clean' audit for year ending Sept. 30, 2023

The Broken Bow City Council on Aug. 13 accepted the annual audit for the year ending Sept. 30, 2023, after auditor Jeff Oeltjen of Dana F. Cole said the report was "clean."
Oeltjen told the council the audit was completed later than usual because of personnel changes at the city but that the auditors are confident "the city and its current staff are moving in the right direction." Mayor Rod Sonnichsen thanked Dana F. Cole and city employees for working through questions that arose during the process. City Administrator Dave Schmidt also acknowledged the extra work by staff to complete the audit.
The council approved acceptance of the audit on a roll call vote with Councilmembers Russ Smith and Luke Wassom voting aye and no nays recorded. No further action or follow-up timetable was specified at the meeting.
